Pauline Lucille Zielie, 85, 161 B Gracious Estates, Mason City, Iowa, died
Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, Iowa, with Rev.
Dennis Ganz officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at
Ward-Van Slyke. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be
given to the Pauline L. Zielie Memorial Fund.

Pauline was born May 17, 1928 in Britt, Hancock County, Iowa, the
daughter of Paul and Mildred (Clark) Palmer. She grew up in Clear Lake and
lived there most of her life. She married Maurice Zielie, Dec. 26, 1959 in
Wells, Minn. She worked at the Clear Lake Bakery for over 27 years. She
then worked at Unisys in Clear Lake and the Hanford Inn in Mason City.
Pauline loved working. She never quit working both in the home and
outside home. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and she was known for
her beautiful afghan blankets. She won ribbons at the fair for her work, and
supplied the family with her creative handwork. She was a Hawkeye fan and
always enjoyed helping others. She was like a nurse to her good friend, Suzie.

Pauline in survived by her three children, Donna Law and her husband,
Duane, Clear Lake, Donald Broome and his wife, Janice, Des Moines, Iowa,
and Vickie Schmidt and her husband John, Clear Lake; four grandchildren,
Marne Markwardt, Clear Lake, Mark (Allison) Law, Coralville, Iowa, Jennifer
(Germaine) Brinson, Phoenix, Ariz., and Michelle (Matt) Jones, Clear
Lake; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one brother, Paul
Palmer, Bentonville, Ark.; and one sister, Bernice Hammond, Illinois; and
several nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and
four sisters; and special friend Suzie Carmany.
