Evelyn “Sue” Poole, 68, 409 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept.
18, 2012 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 24, at the Evangelical Free Church,
Hwy. 18 W., Clear Lake, with Rev. Dan Jordan officiating. Interment was at the
Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Relay for Life or Hospice of
North Iowa.

Evelyn Sue Poole, daughter of Ben Thurman and Ruby (Perkins) Ball was born July
29, 1944 in Honaker, Va. Sue graduated from Honaker High School in 1962 and
continued her education at Longwood College in Farmville, Va. receiving her
Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She taught high school English in
Williamsport, Pa. Sue married Roger Poole May 14, 1967 in Honaker. They lived in
Newport News, Va., Williamsport, Pa., Corry, Pa., Rochester, Pa., Minden, Neb.,
Longmont, Colo., St. Paul, Minn., Eau Claire, Wis., Urbandale, Iowa and moved to
Clear Lake in 1999. The family opened Starboard Market June 29th of that year.

Sue enjoyed Gospel music, her church family, reading scriptures, sitting in her
do nothin’ chair, baking, traveling with her husband, politics, and especially
spending time with family and being a grandma. She attended the Evangelical Free
Church.

Sue is survived by her husband, Roger Poole, Clear Lake; three children,
Jennifer Coffman and her husband, Ron, Ventura, Iowa, Katie Paulson and her
husband, Eric, Ventura, and Brian Poole , Des Moines, Iowa and his special
friend, Becky Myers, Birmingham, Iowa; two grandchildren, Cade and Lane Paulson;
her mother, Ruby Ball, Bristol, Tenn.; sister, Wanda Owens Bristol, Tenn.; aunts
and uncles, Gay and Lowie Perkins, Honaker, Va., Francis Ball, Bristol, Mildred
Ball, Bristol, and Edith Ball; brother-in-law, Douglas B. Poole and his wife
Betty, Dunnellon, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Nancy Carey and her husband, Bob,
Fortuna, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her father; brother-in-law, Dan Owens;
mother-in-law, Mildred Poole; and father-in-law, Foy Poole.
