Jerry Lee Deckard, 75, of 622 North Shore Drive, Clear Lake, passed away
Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City,
Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Church of Christ, Clear Lake
with Pastor Jim Allard and Pastor Curtis McGinnis officiating. Military Honors
were provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be made to the Jerry
Deckard Memorial Fund.

Jerry was born in Mason City, Dec. 5, 1935, the son of Herman and D’Lda (Ralls)
Deckard. Jerry attended Mason City High School, graduating in 1953.

Jerry enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Fort Bragg with the 82nd
Airborne in Fayetteville, N.C. He was a paratrooper and achieved the level of
Jumpmaster. He was honorably discharged and married Marjorie Temple on Aug. 14,
1957 in Lillington, N.C. To this union two children were born, Kim and Chris.
They moved to Mason City where he worked at K&A Engraving. He was later
transferred to Sioux Falls, S.D. He also worked in service and sales for Pitney
Bowes in Mason City for 26 years, retiring in 1995.

Jerry loved NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was a people person (enjoyed
everyone), enjoyed cards, poker and cribbage, gambling at Diamond Jo Casino,
camping (cooking and grilling), snakes and ladders yard game and collecting beer
cans.

After Marjorie passed away in 1990 Jerry married Iris Myers on Nov. 17, 2001 at
the Clear Lake Church of Christ and lived in Clear Lake up to the time of his
passing.

Jerry was a member of the Church of Christ, the Oval Club at Pitney-Bowes for 20
years, and was a member of a poker club.

He is survived by his wife, Iris Deckard, Clear Lake; daughter, Kim (Bill)
Haase, Mason City; son, Chris (Tracey) Deckard, Indianola, Iowa; four
grandchildren, Ryan Gerow, Mason City; Jennifer Deckard, Indianola; Robert
Deckard, Cedar Falls and Jameson (Melissa) Deckard, Northwood, Iowa; one
great-grandson, Hunter Deckard, Northwood; step-son, Troy Kaduce, Des Moines,
Iowa; step-daughter, Melissa Kaduce, Clear Lake; step-granddaughter, Crystal
(Adrian) Kramer, Mogadore, Ohio, and step great-grandson, Aaron Kramer and a
sister, Janice Easley of Mason City; brother-in-law, Curtis (Betty) Temple of
Bunnlevel, N.C.; sister-in-law, Beverly (Glenn) Gregory of Bunnlevel, N.C., and
numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie, and his parents.
