Linda Lee Nelson Smith, 47, of Clear Lake, died Aug. 12, 1995, at the
Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Zion Lutheran Church
in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Burial was in the
Clear Lake Cemetery.The family of Linda Lee Nelson Smith has requested memorial contributions
be made to Hospice of North Iowa in her memory.Linda Lee Nelson Smith was born on March 23, 1948, in Mason City, the
daughter of James Robert Dickirson and Lorene Kennedy Dickirson. She was
baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and attended schools in Clear
Lake and Lakewood, Calif., graduating from Western High School in Anaheim,
Calif. After completing her schooling she moved
back to Clear Lake, moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., and then to Garden
City, Mich., in the spring of 1973, where she worked for the Kerr
Manufacturing Company in Romulus, Mich., as a Laboratory Account Specialist
for 22 years retiring in July of 1995, due to ill health, moving back to
Clear Lake. She enjoyed water skiing, riding Harley Davidson
Motorcycles, shopping and was an avid reader.She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and a member of
Alinon.She is survived by her mother and step-father, Lorene and Frank Haddy,
Clear Lake; two sons, Darren Robin Nelson and Dustin James Nelson,both of
Garden City, Mich.; father to Darren and Dustin is Robert Nelson, Garden City;
two brothers, Jeffrey Pierce and his wife, Amy of Rochester, Minn., and Randy
Pierce of California; three sisters, Diana Byington and her husband, Tim,
Clear Lake, Darcy Dickirson and her fiance, Dan Skellenger, Clear Lake, and
Jody Cramer and her husband, John, Medford, Minn.; two sister-in-laws, Jacki
Nelson and her husband, Richard, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Bettie Burnette
and her husband, Jim, of Westland, Mich.She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents; and an uncle,
Leonard "Dud" Kennedy.Pallbearers at the funeral service were Chris Burnette, Rick
Burnette, Marty Pearson, Roland Drew, Greg Knopf and Randy Pals.
Soloist Linda Nuehring was accompanied by organist Karen Harthan.
