John Siebert Henn, 88, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday,
July 4, 1995, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services
were held Saturday, July 8, at Immanuel Reformed Church, rural Belmond, Iowa,
with the Rev. Victor Folkert officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Reformed
Church Cemetery, rural Belmond. The family suggests memorials to the John S.
Henn Memorial Fund.

John Henn was born Nov. 8, 1906, on the family farm in rural Belmond, the
son of Jacob and Grace Henn. He attended rural school, then high school in
Belmond. He farmed in the Belmond area and raised furs.

On Sept. 8, 1932, he married Gladys Duregger, in South Dakota. He became an
auctioneer in 1934 and, together with a partner, established the Belmond Sale
Barn. He later returned to full time farming and breeding draft horses.

He retired in 1964 and moved to Clear Lake. He continued his auctioneering
profession in Clear Lake.

He was awarded first place in the craft and hobbies categories at the North
Iowa Fair in 1988 for his miniature reproductions of harnesses and hitches. John
made over 100 sets of harnesses and hitches.

John enjoyed reading, studying farm technology, antiques, many hours of
dancing at the White Pier to the Surf, good food, visiting and most of all his
family. He volunteered for a number of organizations, including serving as a
driver for Opportunity Village. He was a member of Immanuel Reformed Church,
rural Belmond.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, a resident of the Sheffield Care Center;
four children, Marcia Koester and her husband, Robert, Clear Lake, John Henn and
his wife, Rejane of Dubuque, Iowa, Richard Henn and his wife, Karen, Ankeny,
Iowa, William Henn and his wife, Gladys of Terril, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Tillie
Meints, Belmond; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Elmer Henn and
Harley Henn.

Pallbearers were Kyle Henn, Adam Henn, Kevin Henn, Stephanie Henn,
Christopher Henn, Rena Koester.
