Jean L. Godden, 78, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Good
Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Funeral Services were held Monday, April

26, at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor Thomas Healey
officiating. Interment was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Jean was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Algona, Iowa the daughter of Loyal and Fern
(Andrews) Young. She graduated from Algona High School in 1943 and married
Lester Godden, her high school sweetheart, on Sept. 27, 1943.
Jean worked at Camp Headquarters in Camp Cooke, California until her husband
went overseas. She then returned to Algona and worked at Security State Bank
until 1948 when she and her husband moved to Clear Lake.
Jean will always be remembered for her warmth, deep faith, joyous laugh, her
knitting, painting, golf, and her devotion to family and friends.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Les Godden of Clear Lake; her

daughter, Doxandra Weber and her husband, Ron, Nevada, Iowa; her son, Kurt
and his wife, Angela, Sterling Heights, Mich.; a brother, Dixon Young and his
wife, Shirley, Algona; a brother, Keith Young and his wife, Marilyn, of
Waterloo, Iowa and four loving granddaughters, Kirsten and Meesha Weber of
Nevada and Holly and Stephanie Godden of Sterling Heights.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Jean's name be sent to
Good Shepherd Health Center, P. O. Box 1707, 302 2nd St. NE, Mason City, IA
50402, or First Congregational Church, Clear Lake.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
