Willis G. Nichols, Jr. Clear Lake - Willis G. "Willie" Nichols, Jr., 55, of 2904 N. Shore Dr., died Saturday (May 22, 1993) near Osage, in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear lake with the Rev. David Burling officiating. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth, Clear Lake. Family suggest memorials in his name. Willie was born April 21, 1938, in Mason City, the son of Willis and Lila (Herington) Nichols. He attended school in Clear Lake. He started working at the Clear Lake Bakery at the age of 15. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962, after the service he returned to Clear Lake and worked at the bakery. He had been a route driver for the Clear Lake Bakery for the last 23 years. He married Carolyn Hanley on Jan. 18, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. They have lived in Clear Lake where they have raised their children. He enjoyed fishing, his trips to Canada, hunting, and his children and grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his wife Carolyn Nichols, Clear Lake; two daughters, Beckey Ott and her husband Gene, Clear Lake, their children Seth, Nicholas and Megan; Debra Hunold and her husband Ed, Hamilton, Ill., their children Brandi, Andrew and Jessica; one son, Daniel Nichols, Clear Lake; one sister, Darlen Kline and her husband Lyle, Ventura; two brothers, Gordon Nichols and his wife Ruth, John Nichols and his wife Karen, all of Clear Lake; his mother-in-law, Alma Hanley, Clear Lake; several nieces and nephews, a great many friends and associates. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
