to Go to Pacific TheaterPfc. Robert McKIBBEN has returned to Camp Grant, Ill., after a 31-day furlough spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKIBBEN and his sister, Corinne, 15 Adams N. W.
Pfc. McKIBBEN arrived in Boston on June29 on the Mariposa after serving 6 months in the European theater of operations. He has been awarded the combat infantryman's badge and wears 2 battle stars on his ETO ribbon.
He had been in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with the 95th "Victory" division, soon enroute to the Pacific theater.

Robert E. McKibben, 19, Succumbs After Collision
Robert Eugene McKIBBEN, 19, Mason City, soldier who was injured in an automobile accident Sunday night, died Wednesday morning in a local hospital. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKIBBEN, 15 N. Adams.
The car in which Pfc. McKIBBEN was riding rolled over when it struck loose gravel a mile south of Clear lake on the Thornton road.
Born Feb. 16, 1926, he was graduated from Mason City public schools and inducted into the army in June, 1944. He returned in August from 6 months of action with the 95th (Victory) division in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a private 1st class and wore the combat infantry badge and 2 battle stars on his ETO ribbon.
He was in Mason City on a 3-day pass at the time of the accident. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Major funeral home.
In addition to his parents, the youth is survived by a sister, Corrine, at home, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McMULLEN of Mason City and Mr. and Mrs. Nels THOMPSON of Story City.

Funeral services for Robert Eugene McKIBBEN, local soldier who died of injuries received in an automobile crash, will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Lutheran church with the Rev. Marvin O. LEE officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. The Major funeral home is in charge.
