in GERMANY, MARCH 5Entered Service Last August and Had Been Overseas Since Feb. 2
Pvt. Robert L. THOMAS, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon C. THOMAS, 812 3rd S.W., was killed in action in Germany on March 5, according to a message received here.
Pvt. THOMAS was serving with the armored division to which he had been transferred after arriving overseas on Feb. 2. He had been in England, Ireland, Scotland and Holland before going to Germany. He entered the service last September and had a furlough here afer 14 weeks of basic training in the infantry and was then sent overseas.
A brother, S/Sgt. Ralph THOMAS, is a machinist in a bomber service group and is now stationed at Columbia, S. Car., after 27 months of overseas service, in the Mediterranean area, including Sardinia and Corsica. He had not seen his brother since entering the service nearly 3 years ago.
