YOUNG, 78, DIES AT LAKE HOME

Funeral Services at Ward's Saturday, 2

CLEAR LAKE - Funeral services for Frank S. YOUNG, 78, who died at his home, 827 S. 3rd street, Wednesday afternoon [Feburary 5] following a long illness, will be held at Ward's funeral home Saturday at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Warner M. HUBBARD, pastor of the Methodist church, will conduct the rites and burial will be in Clear Lake cemetery.

Mr. YOUNG was born Sept. 23, 1868, at Shannon, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. YOUNG. When only 7 years of age he came with his parents to a farm south of Clear Lake where they lived a few years and then moved to town. He was married Oct. 9, 1902, to Miss Marie PETERSON at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles SHARF, now known as the Fred BOYD place. The YOUNGS have lived in and near Clear Lake since.

Mr. YOUNG built the Wayside Inn on the south shore and operated it several years. He also had an ice cream factory for a time, operated a stand on the Kennedy corner and had a boathouse several seasons. For 18 years the YOUNGS operated a fishing dock, with boats, and a refreshment stand near State park. They retired 2 years ago last May.

Mr. YOUNG had been in failing health for a time and confined to the house since last May but had been in bed only 2 weeks. He was a member of the Yeomen and Woodmen lodges.

Besides his wife, Mr. Young is survived by a sister, Mrs. Tom STANFIELD, Clear Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Carrie GEORGE, and 5 brothers, Robert, Clear Lake; James, Garner; Charles, Omaha, Nebr.; Homer, Mabton, Wash.; and Frank who died in infancy.
