Killed on Iwo Jima

Pfc. Marine Jacob P. Brood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Brood, Swaledale, was killed in action on Iwo Jima on Feb. 22, according to word received here.

Pfc. Brood was killed just a year from the day he left home, it was stated. He was 19 on his last birthday, Dec. 12, and was the eldest son in the family.

As a civilian, Brood farmed with his father at Swaledale. He took his training at San Diego, Cal.
