Saturday, July 08, 2012SOUIX FALLS, S.D. - Joan L. DODGE, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Gilbert, Ariz., where she had lived for the past 20 years. She was 78.
Joan was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Mason City, Iowa, to Sam and Marcella LEE.
In 1952, she married John E. DODGE in Anchorage, Alaska. They moved to Sioux Falls where they raised their children. Joan worked at the Donohoe Clinic/ Central Plains Clinic in pediatrics, caring for and comforting kids and parents alike for more than 20 years, before retiring in Arizona.
Joanie had a one-in-a- million ability to make everyone's day much brighter just by being around her! Her love for her children was unrelenting, and she always had a special place in her heart for all her grand-puppies.
Joan was the ultimate care-giver throughout her life for family, friends, and anyone she would meet.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was an angel on Earth, and now she is an angel in Heaven.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and husband John.
She is survived by her children, Jay and his wife Lori of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Jack and his wife Trish of Mitchell, S.D.; Jan of Gilbert, Ariz.; and Jerry of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother Jon and his wife Mary of Clear Lake, Iowa; and three grandsons.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Monday July 9, at Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.
