S. BIRCH DIES SUDDENLY HERE

Succumbs to Heart Disease Following Attack on Way to Hospital.

Sidney BIRCH, 47, who resided at 1832 North Federal avenue, died at a local hospital about 11 o'clock Saturday morning following an attack of heart disease. Mr. BIRCH became ill Friday night on his way to the hospital to visit his wife, who is confined there following an operation. Mr. BIRCH had suffered a similar attack Dec. 2.

Mr. BIRTH has been employed for many years at the Northwestern States Portland Cement compnay as engineer on the steam shovel. He is survived by his wife, Edith, and two daughters and one son.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed Saturday. The body was taken to the Randall funeral home.

BIRCH FUNERAL SERVICE TUESDAY

Funeral services for Sidney BIRCH, 47, steam shovel operator at the Northwestern States Portland Cement company plant, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Grace Evangelical church with the Rev. H. C. BRUNEMEIER in charge.

A private service will be held at the home, 1832 North Federal avenue, at 1:15 o'clock. Pallbearers will be associates at the plant, George LUCE, Martin PETERSON, Howard JOHNSON, Harold STATSOR, Hugh THURTLE and Ed HIZELMAN. Burial will be at Plymouth [Oakwood Cemetery].

Mr. BIRCH was born Aug. 30, 1890, at Beetown, Wis. He came to Mason City in 1908 and immediately got a position with the cement plant. On Oct. 27, 1909, he was married at Caffville, Wis. His wife [Edith Ann LESTER] and two sons, Cecil and Dale BIRCH and four daughters, Flossie, Annette, Phyllis and Betty, survive him. He also is survived by four brothers, Joseph and James, Beetown, and William and Ralph, Mason City, and two sisters, Mrs. Maude GARNER, Larmarten, Wis., and Mrs. Allie RALSHAK; two grandchildren and other relatives.

Mr. BIRCH died in a local hospital Saturday following an attack of heart disease.

Sidney Birch Rites Held Here;
Burial at Plymouth Cemetery

Funeral services for Sidney BIRCH, 47, steam shovel operator at the Northwestern States Portland cement plant who died Saturday at a local hospital from heart disease, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Grace Evangelical church. The Rev. H. C. BRUNEMEIER, pastor of the church, was in charge of the services. Burial was at the Plymouth [Oakwood] cemetery.

Pallbearers were associates at the plant, George LUCE, Martin PETERSON, Howard JOHNSON, Harold STATSOR, Hugh THRUTLE and Ed HIZELMAN.

Mrs. Sidney BIRCH, 1832 North Federal avenue, was dismissed from Park hospital Monday following a major operation.
