J. B. COWAN, 55, DIES SUDDENLY

Funeral Rites to Be on Tuesday Afternoon
John B. COWAN, 55, an employee of the Northwestern Bell Telephone company for the past 33 years, died suddenly at his home, 115 First S.E., Saturday night following a brief illness. Mr. COWAN was born in Ainsworth, Nebr., May 19, 1892. He had lived in this community for the past 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Emma; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice KNAUSS, Council Bluffs and Mrs. Viola STIER, Schleswig, Iowa; and 5 brothers, Harris, Fremont, Nebr.; Leo, Des Moines; Dan, Council Bluffs; William, Austin, Minn.; and Warren in Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Lena TOMLINSON.

Mr. COWAN was a member of Harding Lodge No. 649, A.F. & A.M., and the Elks club. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Patterson-James funeral chapel, with the Rev. George O. MARSH, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood cemetery. Masonic rites will be held at the gravesite with Harding Lodge No. 649, A.F. & A.M., in charge. The Patterson-James funeral home in charge.
