WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Nicolas James AGUILERA Jr., 56, died Dec. 31, 2009, at the JFK Medical Center Hospice Unit, West Palm Beach, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Nicolas J. Aguilera Jr. Memorial in care of Nicolas and Mary AGUILERA, 1411 S. Louisiana Ave., Mason City, IA 50401.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Michael SCHUELLER officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nicolas James AGUILERA Jr. was born June 2, 1953, in Mason City, the son of Nicolas Sr. and Mary (FLORES) AUGILERA. He graduated from Mason City High School, North Iowa Area Community College and Kirkwood Community College with a culinary degree. He moved to the Chicago, Ill., area for a while until later moving to West Palm Beach, Fla., where he had been a chef for more than 20 years. Nicolas worked for exclusive restaurants and private clubs in Palm Beach, Fla., for several years specializing as a pastry chef.

Nicolas enjoyed traveling, bicycling, exercising, reading, music and movies. He really enjoyed being with friends and family. He enjoyed the arts and performances including trips to Broadway shows in New York.

Nicolas is survived by his parents, Nicolas Sr. and Mary AGUILERA, of Mason City; siblings, Rosie (Jim) RANGE and David (Ramona) AUILERA, all of Minneapolis; Esther (David) HEPPERLY of Mason City; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Dale) WEBB, Shelly WILLIAMS, all of Minneapolis, Justin STRATTON of New York, N.Y., Novia AGUIILERA of Minneapolis, Nico AGUILERA of Minneapolis, Chad HEPPERLY of Des Moines, Garrett and Greg HEPPERLY of Mason City; great-nieces and great-nephews, Katelyn, Frank, Dakoda and Autumn; along with aunts, uncles cousins and many friends.

Nicolas is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; niece, Crystal AGUILERA; uncle, Roy FLORES and cousin, Steve FLORES.
