Violet Bernhardt

Violet "Vi" Ann BERNHARDT, 81, of The Willows, 1000 N. Eisenhower Ave. in Mason City, died Wednesday (March 24, 2004) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Violet Ann BERNHARDT was born March 2, 1923, the daughter of John and Katherine (SPURGEON) GEDVILLE. She attended and received her education at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Mason City, graduating from St. Joseph's Catholic High School.

Vi worked at Woolworth's department store, and Swift Ice Cream Co., both in Mason City. Vi also worked at the Plymouth Locker.

She was united in marriage to Edward BERNHARDT on Jan. 24, 1942, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mason City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2000.

After their marriage to-gether they farmed in the Plymouth area until her husband retired.

Vi moved to the Willows in Mason City in the summer of 2001.

Vi loved to fish with her husband and going to the cabin she and her husband shared at Lake Kabetogama in northern Minnesota.

She also enjoyed feeding and watching birds and flowers, watching soaps on TV, sewing and cross-stitching.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Plymouth, and after moving to Mason City she attended mass at St. Joseph Catholic's Church in Mason City.

She is survived by three sons, David (Jeanne) BERNHARDT, of Plymouth, Daryl BERNHARDT, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mark (Shirley) BERNHARDT, of Auburn, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Doug (Susan) BERNHARDT, Dan BERNHARDT, Julie BERNHARDT, Keith BERNHARDT and his fiancee, Melissa, Stewart (Stacey) BERNHARDT, Megan BERNHARDT, Tina (Mark) Mitchell, and Alicia BERNHARDT and her fiance, Matt; eight great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward BERNHARDT; a grandson; and three sisters, and one brother.
