HELEN D. BECK

MASON CITY — Helen D. BECK, 93, of Mason City, died Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2003).

Helen D. DeSART was born June 2, 1910, the daughter of Dr. Roy F. and Ester S. (CHURCHILL) DeSART in Des Moines. She graduated from Mason City High School and attended Mason City Junior College.

Helen was united in marriage to J. Francis BECK on June 18, 1931, in Mason City. She and her husband were lifelong residents of Mason City. Her husband, J. Francis BECK, died on Feb. 1, 1966.

Helen was active in Women’s Club, Opportunity Village, a 65-year member of PEO Chapter DZ and a trustee of Julia M. Higley Home.

Helen was a devoted member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.

A private family interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery with a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mason City Public Library or First Congregational Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Janan BECK, of Clear Lake; son, Jay BECK, of Mason City; sisters-in-law, Ruth DeSART and Helen DeSART, of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Francis, Forrest and Chester DeSART.
