Herald B. THOMPSON, 90, a resident of the Rockwell Community Nursing Home died early Monday morning, May 26, 2008, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home in Rockwell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 502 S. 2nd St. in Rockwell with the Rev. Ronald BOLINGER officiating. Interment will be in Rockwell Cemetery in Rockwell. Military Rites will be accorded by the Rockwell Gallagher American Legion Post #208. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 S. 3rd St. in Rockwell and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Herald Burdette THOMPSON was born on June 13, 1917 in Russell, Iowa the son of Henry and Ethel (GOLTRY) THOMPSON. On June 8, 1941 Herald was united in marriage to Hannah A. PETERSEN at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rockwell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge He was the first male nurse to graduate from NIACC's nurse's program, graduating in 1969. He was a registered nurse and owned and operated the Rockwell Nursing Home with his wife until retiring in 1977.
He is survived by his three children, Steve THOMPSON of Rockwell, Judy BELLOMY of Owatonna and Jay THOMPSON of Rockwell; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ethel (GOLTRY) THOMPSON; his wife Hannah on Oct. 11, 2007 and two brothers, Clell and Lynn THOMPSON.
