Mason City, Iowa -- Mabel E. McMULLIN, 94, of 222 S. Pierce Ave., died Tuesday (Jan. 17, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. David SHOGREN officiating. Burial will be in the Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell. Visitation will be one hour prior to services today at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wesley United Methodist Church in memory of Mabel McMULLIN. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mabel was born May 6, 1900 near Boone, the daughter of Charles and Viola (PARR) WHITSON. She graduated from Forest City High School in 1919 and was crowned Miss Iowa in 1921. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, then taught in rural consolidated schools in the Marshalltown area.

She married Roy A. McMULLIN in 1928 in Forest City. After Mr. McMULLIN'S death in 1948, Mabel went back to school, attending Mason City Junior College. She taught school in the Alton, Chapin and Collins schools, retiring in 1958. She moved to Mason City in 1958, where she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, I.S.E.A. and N.E.A.

Survivors include two daughters, Altha Lu and husband, William STEINERT of Port Washington, Wisconsin, and Shirley and husband, Donald McAFEE of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Altha BULAND of Mason City and Winnefred LACKORE of San Luis Obispo, California and one daughter-in-law, Jenny McMULLIN of Hanover Park, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; a son, Francis; three brothers; and three sisters.
