October 30, 1981Aaron HERMAN, 80, of Route 2, Mount Vernon, died Friday at Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
Born March 1, 1901, near Hopkinton, he was a Charles City resident before moving to the Mount Vernon area. He was married to Ethel McMULLEN on Oct. 9, 1922, in Charles City. He farmed in the Mount Vernon area for 20 years and had been employed by Iowa Steel and Iron Workers from 1950 to 1963. He served with the U.S. Army in France during World War I and was in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Charles City American Legion Post 174.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Virginia DRISCOLL of Cedar Rapids; two sisters; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held. Burial near Mason City [Rockwell Cemetery, Rockwell, Iowa]. Friends may call at Stewart Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be closed at all times. Friends may contribute to the charity of their choice or to Hospice of Mercy, in care of Mercy Hospital, 701 10th St. SE 52403.
