FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. CARL GODFREY, 79, HELD FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for Mrs. Carl (Florence V.) Godfrey, 79 of Plymouth, who died March 5, 1985 at Mercy hospital in Mason City, were held Friday afternoon at the United Methodist church in Plymouth. Harlan Gillespie, Pastor, officiated at the service with burial in the Oakwood cemetery in Plymouth, the Bride Colonial Chapel of Manly in charge of arrangements.

Serving as pall bearers were Jerry Pixley, Wayne Willand, Todd Godfrey, Jack Salz, Duane Godfrey and Rick Patton.

Mrs. Harlan Gillepsie was organist and accompanied Mrs. Marilyn Moon as she sang "How Great Thou Art". The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross".

She was born July 1, 1905 in Alta, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Ankerson) Mahn. The family moved to the Manly area and she attended rural schools at Manly.

She was married to Carl W. Godfrey on February 10, 1926 at Plymouth, Iowa. They had resided in the Plymouth community for 45 years. Mrs. Godfrey worked for many years at the Plymouth school, both as custodian for some years and as a cook, until her retirement.

She was a member of the Plymouth United Methodist church, the Plymouth Senior citizens, and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge at Plymouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Billy Godfrey; and one brother Orville Mahn.

She is survived by her husband, Carl W. of Plymouth; four daughters, Mrs. Nick (Dorothy) Frank, El Monte, Calif., June Cornelius, Plymouth, Iowa; Bonnie Scher, Paramount, Calif., and Mrs. Dennis (Avis) Keenen, Tujunja, Calif; and one son, Daniel Godfrey of Mason City. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother, Lyle Mahn of Jewell, Iowa, and one sister, Bernice Peterson of Key Largo, Florida.
