January of 2010Irene M. TRACY, 93, a longtime Janesville resident, passed away early Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Huntington Place Memory Care II. She was born on June 6, 1916, in Swaledale, IA, daughter of the late George & Anna (Martin) Mantz. She graduated high school in Iowa, and then later graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Mason City, IA. in 1938. On June 24, 1939, she married Bernard J. TRACY in Rockwell, IA. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2001.
Irene worked as a Registered Nurse for many years in Iowa, and after moving to Janesville worked on the staff of Mercy Hospital and the Homestead Nursing Home, retiring in 1977. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Janesville.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Lee) TRACY of Anniston, AL; his two daughters, Victoria (Jon) FLORA of Janesville and Sue Ann TRACY of Edgerton; her five grandchildren: Marci FLORA, Cindy FLORA, Tom FLORA, Michelle (Randy) Hebert, and Daniel (Karin) TRACY; her five great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn FLORA, Claudia HEBERT, Simon HEBERT, Julian HEBERT, and Abigail FLORA; nieces, nephews, and friends, including her very special friends: Sandi KETTLE, Maria LASSEIGNE, and Sister Lucentia KLONECKI.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Catherine, Marie, Sienna, and Helen.
Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 315 Cherry St., with Fr. James KUHN officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials in Irene's name may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Whitcom-Lynch Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting her family with arrangements.
Irene's family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the care staff of Huntington Place Memory Care II, and to the staff of Heartland Hospice for their care, concern, and love shown to Irene during her illness.
