Obituary - Engelina "Ann" Schulte
Engelina (Ann) SCHULTE, 79, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the First Reformed Church, Meservey with Rev. Rodney MEESTER presiding. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday at Retz Funeral Home, Meservey.
Engelina was born on April 7, 1931 on a farm northwest of Thornton, Iowa to John and Adeline (FASTENAU) SCHULTE. Ann attended country school, and graduated from Swaledale High School in 1950. After graduation she helped her parents on their farm north of town, sold Avon for 25 years and worked at Casey's in Clear Lake, Iowa for 18 years.
She was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church of Meservey, Iowa. She was an active participant in the RCWM Ladies Aid, the "As You Like It" Club, and the Swaledale Garden club. Ann loved gardening, mowing the lawn on the farm, driving her car, traveling, and talking with people. She even loved sports of all kinds — she loved life.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Rebecca SCHULTE-DWAN, Mesa, AZ, sister-in-law, Jane SCHULTE, St. Paul, MN; nieces and nephews, Debra (Jack) ANHORN, Waterloo; Diane (Terry) BECKMAN, St. Paul, MN; Douglas John (Dora) SCHULTE, San Diego, CA; Lori BURKE, Mesa, AZ and Sharlene DWAN, Clarkdale, AZ; great-nieces and nephews, Brian (and friend Chandra) ANHORN, Brent ANHORN, and Bradley ANHORN, Waterloo, Lindsey (Dana) PEARSON, St Paul, MN, Jennifer (Charlie) DeMARS, Osceola, WI, Gina SCHULTE, San Diego, CA; and Adeline and Samantha BURKE, Mesa, AZ; great-great nieces and nephews, Alex PEARSON, St. Paul, MN, and Rylee ANHORN, Waterloo; and many friends and relatives to numerous to list.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wilke SCHULTE.
