CHICAGO, Ill. - Rabbi Sidney ROTHSTEIN, beloved husband of the late Libby nee SIMONS and the late Shirley nee ASHLINE, loving father of Robert (Cheryl) ROTHSTEIN and Marjorie ROTHSTEIN, devoted grandfather of Lisa and Alaina ROTHSTEIN, dear brother of Lillian TASKY and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews has passed away.

He served as pulpit Rabbi for more than 40 years. Rabbi ROTHSTEIN served the Adas Israel congregation in Mason City from 1951 through 1956. [He served the Temple Isreal which joined the Conservative Branch of Judaism, Dover, New Hampshire, arriving in 1962 and serving the congregation for well over 15 years.]

Services will be held today in the Chicago area. [Shiva at the ROTHSTEIN residence, Kokie, Illinois; graveside services at Shalom Memorial park, 1700 Rand Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois.]

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Hebrew Theological College, 7135 N. Carpenter Road, Skokie, IL 60077 or Hospice of the Valley at Coronado Home, 340 E. Coronado Road, Phoenix, Ariz., 85004.

Obituary ~ Rabbi Sidney Rothstein

Rabbi Sidney ROTHSTEIN of Phoenix died Jan. 28, 2006. He was 85. He was born in Chicago. He was a pulpit rabbi in Mason City, Iowa; Quincy, Ill.; and Dover, N.H. He served in the military.

Survivors include his daughter, Marjorie of Scottsdale; son, Robert of Skokie, Ill,; sister, Lillian TASKY of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Ill., with Rabbi Gerald TELLER officiating. Arrangements were made by Chicago Jewish Funerals.
