Obituary - Gary Pattschull
December 01, 1935 ~ December 24, 2008

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 03, 2009 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, located at 223 E. 4th St. N., in Newton, Iowa, for Gary PATTSCHULL.

Memorials in Gary's name may be left at the funeral home.

Gary was a graduate of Clear Lake High School. He also graduated Suma Cum Laude from Grinnell College in 1958. While at Grinnell College, he lettered in football and baseball and he was invited to try out for the Baltimore Colts. He also played piano in a Dixieland band during his college years. Gary worked for the Vernon Company for 40 years, retiring as the Customer Service Director.

Gary was a lifetime supporter of the Animal Rescue League and the Veterans' Administration. The center of his life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, always making sure they had things to do. He enjoyed music, flower gardening, and sports -- especially football.

Those left to honor Gary's memory include his wife, Donna of Newton; his son, John PATTSCHULL of Newton; daughter, Mary Kay (Brian) CHESHER of Fontana, CA; 3 grandchildren -- Nicholas CHESHER of Fontana, CA, Maria PATTSCHULL and Sean Paul PATTSCHULL; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Donna) MINEAR of Waukee; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Jake) MINEAR of Grinnell; aunt, Mary NOVAK of Grinnell; his uncle, Don KOFRAN of Austin, MN; an aunt, June BIRDSELL of Mason City; cousins -- Phil (Marilyn) KOFRAN of Minneapolis, MN, Paula PATTSCHULL of Denver, CO, Rick LONG of Irvine, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Carl and Mildred (BIRDSELL) PATTSCHULL; his father-in-law, Loyd MINEAR; mother-in-law, Thelma MINEAR; and brother-in-law, Ron MINEAR.
