June was born Nov. 18, 1915 at home in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Leon Bernard and Esther Lillian (FAGERSTROM) ROE. She was baptized March 19, 1916 in St. Paul. She graduated from Central High School in 1935. June married Bernard G. OLSON Sept. 28, 1936 in St. Paul at the Hamline Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a great supporter for her husband, over 70 years, as he was a United Methodist pastor in Iowa and Minnesota. They traveled throughout Europe and to the Holy Land; and also participated in an exchange pulpit in England for six weeks. In 1975 they built their retirement home in the Methodist Camp in Clear Lake and moved to Clear Lake in 1980. During the last 30 years, she researched family genealogy for both sides of their family, putting them in book form and distributed to their families.
June was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church and extremely proud to be a life member of the UMW.
She was a great mother and grandmother, passing on family traditions, making great chocolate chip and Christmas cookies, and sharing the recipes.
June is survived by two daughters Jeannine C. HUTSON, Casa Grande, AZ and Geraldine GILBERT, Cedar Falls, IA; four grandchildren Craig DOWNS, Karen DOWNS, Thomas GILBERT and Robert GILBERT; two great-grandsons Brandon and Jordan DOWNS.; brother-in-law Delmar OLSON and his wife Ora, Paynesville, MN; sister-in-law Marjorie CLARK, Albert Lea, MN and many nieces, nephews and extended family she met while doing her geneology.
June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard (2/4/05), sister Helen JACKSON and her husband Wilbur, grandson Brian DOWNS and nephew Ken JACKSON.
