Obituary - Irvin Charles Moritz

Irvin Charles MORITZ, 94, of Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly of Thornton, died Friday, April 2, 2010 at The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills [Florida]. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 16 at Retz Funeral Home 107 N. 2nd Street, Thornton with Rev. Rose CALDERON-KHAN of the Thornton United Methodist Church presiding. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday 9:00 until the service.

Irvin Charles MORITZ was born August 10, 1915 at Thornton, Iowa a son of Charles J. and Wilamina (Minnie MEYERS) MORITZ. He attended Thornton Schools. He was united in marriage with Vera Norma WEBB. She passed away in 1983. He moved to Florida in 1990. He married Shirley BALDWIN May 25, 1990 she passed away in 2006.

Irvin worked as a Maintainer Operator for Cerro Gordo County, was a member of the Methodist Church in Thornton and was the president of the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and the Cerro Gordo Credit Union. He enjoyed golf, baseball, dancing and bowling.

He is survived by his sons: Charles MORITZ and David (Jaunita) MORITZ, sister: Margie MIKKELSON and step-daughter Cherie REEDY, and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, half-brother Harry MEYERS, sister Edna Mae LIGHTBODY and infant son Roger.
