Obituary - Donnie Lee Jensen

Donnie JENSEN, 57, of Thornton, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton with Mr. Red HAUGLAND presiding. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the care of the Donnie JENSEN Memorial Fund.

Donnie Lee JENSEN was born August 31, 1953 at Mason City, Iowa a son of Eugene and Mildred (DeVRIES) JENSEN. He was baptized and confirmed at Richland Lutheran Church in Thornton. He graduated from Meservey-Thornton High School in 1971.

Donnie worked at the Skelly Station in Thornton and later Schroeder's DX. For many years Donnie worked in construction, ending his career with Neff Construction due to health reasons in 2009.

He enjoyed woodworking and playing pool with his buddies at Westy's and watching old western movies. He loved animals and his cats and dogs were his family.

Donnie is survived by his parents: Eugene and Mildred JENSEN, Thornton; sisters and brother: Connie (Larry) STADTLANDER, Thornton; Mike (Betty) JENSEN, Thornton; Kathy (Tom) JANEKA, Thornton; Laurie (Floyd) MECHAM, Clear Lake; nieces and nephews: Robert (Shea) JENSEN, Jamie JANEKA & fiancé Amanda HULL, Amber JANEKA & Kelly JENSEN and his friends from Westy's.

He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Retz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
