MASON CITY, IOWA - Marcy Nicole Leonard Wiltsie, 42, of Mason City died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
A memorial celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1309 S. Kentucky Ave. A private family interment service has taken place at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com
Nicole was born on October 5, 1968, in Bellevue, Washington, the daughter of Gerald and Lynnita (Park) Leonard. She grew up in Seattle, Washington, and Southern California. Nicole graduated from Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo, California, and received her B.A. degree in education from Buena Vista University and her M.A. degree in education from St. Mary's University, Winona, Minnesota.
Nicole married Tim Wiltsie on August 27, 1991, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Mason City that same year. Nicole taught school at Roosevelt and John Adams Middle Schools for 16 years. She truly enjoyed teaching. She was an active member of her church and loved to travel and spend time with her family. Nicole had a very long, brave and courageous battle with cancer but still was able to enjoy and live life to its fullest.
Nicole is survived by her loving husband, Tim, and son, Alex, of Mason City; father, Gerald Leonard of Wilton, California; mother, Lynnita P. Leonard of Orange County, California; brother, Landry Leonard of McKinleyville, California; sisters, Brittany Quinn Leonard of Baja, California, Mexico, Sydney Leonard of Orange County, California, and Courtney Rayner (nephews Charlie and Dylan) of Orange County, California.
Nicole is also survived by parents-in-law Ken and Carol Wiltsie of The Villages, Florida; sister-in-law, Kathy (Doyle) Lahti of Northfield, Minnesota; and brother-in-law Doug (Nancy) Wiltsie of Mason City.
