MRS. A. PITKIN DIES IN HOSPITAL
Funeral Rites to Be on Tuesday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Elaine WATTS PIKTIN, 23, who died Saturday evening [January 24, 1948] at a local hospital following a lingering illness, will be held at the Major Memorial chapel Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. George O. MARSH, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating.

Mrs. PITKIN was born March 29, 1924, in Mason City. She was graduated from Mason City high school in 1942 and started nurse's training, from which she resigned due to poor health.

On June 23, 1945, she was married to Allen T. PITKIN in Mason City and they made their home in Moline, Ill, for 2 years. They returned to Mason City Jan. 1, 1948.

Surviving are her husband, an infant son, Dennis Allen PITKIN, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. WATTS, Mason City, 2 brothers, Robert Donald WATTS, in the navy, Norfolk, Va., and Rogert Walter WATTS, Mason City, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. NEEDHAM and Frank and Edith WATTS, Mason City.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter [Cheryl A., born January 15, 1947], Jan. 15, 1947.

She was a member of the First Christian church.

Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery. The Major funeral home in charge.

Burial at Memorial Park

Funeral services for Mrs. Elaine WATTS PITKIN, 23, who died Saturday following a lingering illness, were held at the Major Memorial chapel Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. George O. MARSH, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating.

Mrs. Helen DUNN played obsequial music on the organ. Mrs. Neil GARRISON and MRs. T. O. OLSON were in charge of flowers.

Pallbearers were Bob MONAHAN, Lee FAGERLE, John HANSON, Tom GOLLOGLY, Merle WILKIE and Jerry NEEDHAM. Interment was at Memorial Park cemetery. The Major funeral home in charge.

NOTE: Elaine suffered from kidney disease for several years, having numerous treatments and surgeries. She was advised not to get pregnant, but she eventually did, and then lost the child when she was only a few hours old. They then adopted a little boy, but when Elaine died in 1949, Allen released the boy back to the adoption agency. He remarried within a short time, and nothing more is known about him except for when and where he died. [October 11, 2007, Davenport, Scott Co. Iowa].
