December 19, 1996MASON CITY -- Melvina R. "Mickey" RIEKENA, 65, of 308 Willowbrook Drive, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 1996) at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Richard D. SCHEERER of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
There will be no visitation; the body was cremated.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of Melvina R. "Mickey" RIEKENA.
Melvina R. "Mickey" RIEKENA was born Aug. 20, 1931, the daughter of Melvin and Marguerite (YOUNG) LETTS in Racine, Wis.
At a young age, Mickey moved with her family to Mason City where she attended school.
She worked as a nurses aide at Park Clinic in Mason City and later at the Forest City Hospital. Mickey enjoyed raising and showing Aerdale dogs and doing interior decorating for herself and her friends.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth C. RIEKENA, Mason City; one daughter, Christine Jo DOSS, Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Kelly Christine DOSS, Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer Jo DOSS, Atlanta, Ga.; two nieces, Susan RICE, Lawrence, Mich., and Sally Dost, St. Collins, Colo.; and one nephew, Matt DOST, Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barbara Jean DOST.
