Wayne L. COYIER, 81, of 301 N. 10th St., Clear Lake, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct.13, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Msgr. Robert HOGAN officiating. Military honors were led by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Wayne was born Jan. 12, 1922 at Clear Lake, the son of Guy and Viola (LUNDY) COYIER. Wayne was raised in Clear Lake and following high school he entered the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He received the Purple Heart and following service returned to Clear Lake and married Mary MILLARD Oct. 26, 1947 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Garner, Iowa. Wayne was the owner and operator of COYIER'S Service Station & Wrecker Service in Clear Lake until his retirement in the late 1990's. Wayne enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes and Twins and was a member of the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Mary COYIER of Clear Lake; a daughter, Julie SCHRODER and her husband, Rod, of Sibley, Iowa; two sons, Tom COYIER and his wife, Wendie, of Mason City, and Jack COYIER and his wife, Angie, of Venice, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Matthew HELMERS and his wife, Molly, of Ames, Iowa, Betsy HELMERS, of Ankeny, Iowa, Chad KICKBUSH and his wife, Angela, of Grundy Center, Iowa, Shannon TEELING and her husband, Roger, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Heather SCHRODER and Justin SCHRODER both of Plattsburg, Mo. and Jon SCHRODER of Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Addison, Camden, and Caden KICKBUSH, and Brynn TEELING; one sister, Vivian GREENSWEIG of Charles City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gordon COYIER.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
