CLEAR LAKE -- Funeral services for William R. VANCE, 91, of 203 4th Ave. S., Clear Lake, who died Wednesday (Jan 27, 1982) at a Mason City nursing home, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

Mr. VANCE was a member of the Mason City Fire Department for seven years and a member of the Mason City Police Department for nine years. He was a master mechanic for American Crystal Sugar Co., for 10 years. In 1938 he opened VANCE Music Store which became Carleton Stewart Music Co. He also worked at the Holiday Motor Lodge, Clear Lake, before retiring.

Mr. VANCE moved to the Mason City and Clear Lake areas in 1901. He was married [August 15, 1927] to Bonnie LENT. She died in 1959. He later married Jane GRIMM. She died in 1974.

The Rev. Kenneth UBBELOHDE of the Congregational Church, Clear Lake, will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the chapel.
