Wm. F. Steinkamp Dies After Stroke

CLEAR LAKE -- Funeral services for Wm. F. STEINKAMP, 76, 104 East State street, who passed away Saturday evening [October 7, 1939] at 6 o'clock, following a stroke suffered Sept. 2, were held Tuesday afternoon from Ward's funeral home. The Rev. David L. KRATZ, pastor of the Church of Christ, conducted the rites and burial was made in the Clear Lake cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sam HYDE, Fred DAWSON, M. V. VESTER, Chas. PICKNEY, Lee RIGGLE and C. W. BUTTS. Mrs. Arleigh EDDY accompanied at the piano by Mrs.Milton DUESENBERG, sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" by special request and "The Eastern Gate." Mrs. HYDE, Mrs. W. W. FOX and Mrs. Ida WAGGONER arranged the flowers.

William STEINKAMP, son of J. B. H. and Dora STEINKAMP, was born Sept. 4, 1883, at Baltimore, Md. His mother passed away when he was 10-years-old and he was reared by an older sister at Pella, Marion county.

On Feb. 20, 1882 he was married to Anna PAGE at Lenox. They lived on a farm near there for 41 years. Mr. STEINKAMP worked in a hardware store in Lenox for some time and opened the firest Ford agency in that city.

Sixteen years ago the family moved to Clear Lake where he spent most of his time gardening and raising popcorn.

He is survived by his wife, sevenchildren: Mrs. E. E. WATERS, Minneapolis; Mrs. E. J. BAUMAN, Kansas City; Mrs. Forrest MOORE, Chas. and Frank STEINKAMP, all of Omaha; Mrs. Goldie JOHNSON of Denver and Mrs. Bill TERRY of Albuquerque, N.M.. Also eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. STEINKAMP was the last of a family of six children. He was preceded in death by two sons, George, who died April 5, 1925, and is buried at Des Moines, and Ray who died Jan. 2, 1928 and is buried at Kansas City. One grandchild, Metta FULLER, passed away April 18, 1936.
