OBITUARY - Anna Mae (DOUGHERTY) HEPP

MASON CITY -- Anna Mae HEPP, 90, of Mason City, died Saturday (July 21, 2007) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. with the Rev. Kenneth GEHLING officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Hospice of North Iowa.

Anna Mae was born on Feb. 16, 1917, in Dougherty, the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (GLACKIN) DOUGHERTY. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Dougherty in 1935. She was married to Cletus C. HEPP on Oct. 15, 1946, in Dougherty. She moved to Mason City with her husband in 1946. She was a homemaker and was also a cook for Neman Elementary School for 15 years, retiring in 1972. They moved to Ocala, Fla. in 1972, where they lived until returning to Mason City in 1984.

Anna Mae was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Mary Magdalen circle. She volunteered at church, the Knights of Columbus, and Newman Catholic Elementary. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved her family and home, which she took care of with great pride. She lived at Good Shepherd the past two years and greatly appreciated the care and friendship she received from the staff and residents.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Barbara SASSEEN and husband, Keith, of Ottumwa; son, Patrick J. HEPP and wife, Janet, of Arvada, Colo.; daughter, Margaret SIMONSON, and husband, Michael, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren: Paul (Lorrie) POWERS-WETTESTAD, Lara (Cary) JUSMANN, Phil WETTESTAD, Jeremy (Jennifer) HEPP, Celia HEPP, Katie (Chris) WAULKOW, Joseph CRAWFORD, Timothy CRAWFORD; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Allan, Katelyn, and Michael; a sister, Patricia SCHOLL, Rockwell, and several nieces and nephews.
