Dougherty -- Edward Joseph DOUGHERTY, 97, of Davenport and formerly of Dougherty, died Tuesday (Sept. 18, 2002) at the Rockwell Care Center.
His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty with the Rev. Craig E. STEIMEL officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Dougherty.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, with a scriptural prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church in Dougherty.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty.
Edward was born July 2, 1905, in Dougherty, one of seen children born to Daniel and Mayme (MULLIN) DOUGHETY. He graduated from Dougherty Catholic High School in 1928.
He was united in marriage to Rose PAULUS in 1968 in Rockford, Iowa, and they farmed for many years in the Dougherty area. Edward later worked at Armour and Co. in Mason City for several years.
He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball, and was a longtime member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dougherty.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Elaine IRISH and her husband, Joel, of Davenport; six grandchildren, Patricia ALLEN of Clive, Dan IRISH of Davenport, James IRISH of Davenport, David IRISH of Clinton, Maureen IRISH of Iowa City and Joleen ZICKUHR of Bettendorf, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 1995, and six brothers and sisters.
