Obituary - Robert James "Jim" Finlayson
Robert James "Jim" FINLAYSON, 73, of 12 Silver Lane, Mason City, Iowa died Thursday [May 21, 2009] at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
A celebration of life memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday [May 26, 2009] at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, 100 1st St N.E. , Mason City , Iowa with Rev. Patti AURAND, officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by members of Clear Lake V.F.W. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church, Tuesday.

Jim was born in Mason City, Iowa on July 30, 1935, the son of Robert Elliott "Bob" and Madalene R. (LUETT) FINLAYSON. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Congregational Church.
He graduated in 1953 from the Pillsbury Military Academy and then attended the University of Iowa.
He served in the United States Navy. Jim married the love of his life, Nancy Jo PRICE, on Dec. 14, 1957 at the First Congregational Church, Mason City.
Jim operated The Iowa Company Insurance Agency as an independent agent in Mason City, Iowa for over 42 years.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge, El Kahir Shrine, and was past president of the Independent Agent’s Association of Mason City.
Jim was a faithful husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed the cabin in St. Ansgar, playing golf, fishing, hunting, listening to music, bowling, telling jokes, antiquing and mingling with friends who knew him as "the sales manager." He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Nancy FINLAYSON, Mason City, Iowa; their two children, Jeanene BLICKENDERFER and her husband Mike, Nora Springs, Iowa, and Scott FINLAYSON and his wife Vicki KRAJEWSKI, Iowa City, Iowa. He will also be missed by his five grandchildren, Brandi ROWLAND and her husband Brian, Kelly LITTLETON, Justin BLICKENDERFER, Steven LITTLETON, and Blake BLICKENDERFER; a great-grandchild, Kailee ROWLAND; a sister, Jan THOMAS, and her husband Cliff, Lady Lake, Florida; and one brother, Jon FINLAYSON and his wife Lois, Mason City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
