MASON CITY

Mr. Alva Sibert, 88, of 1501 Office Park Rd., West Des Moines, formerly of Mason City, died Sunday (Oct. 13, 1996) at the Fountain West Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, West Des Moines. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McLaren's Funeral Chapel, 801 19th St., West Des Moines.

Alva Sibert was born in Williams.

The Siberts lived in Mason City from the 1940s to 1975. He lived in Belmond before moving to the Mason City area. Alva was employed at Armour & Company in Mason City for 30-plus years, retiring in 1973.

In 1975, they moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and lived there until 1990 when they moved to West Des Moines. He was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Celia Sibert of West Des Moines; two sons, Dennis Sibert of West Des Moines, and Arlon Sibert of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Carol Lievrouw of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Blanche Jergensen of Clarion.
