At Mason CityMichael J. Mikkalson, 58, of Plymouth died suddenly Wednesday, June 15, at Mason City. The funeral was held last Saturday at a Mason City funeral home, with the Rev. Roy Harrisville, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church at Mason City, officiating. Mr. Mikkalson was a son-in-law of Mrs. H. S. Morphew of Nora Springs, and had numerous other relatives here. Burial was in the Plymouth cemetery.
He was born March 27, 1897, in Norway, son of Ole and Lina Mikkalson. He had been a resident of the Plymouth community for the past 33 years. He was manager and buttermaker for the Plymouth Co-op Creamery for 32 years and at the time of his death was dairy and food inspector for the state of Iowa.
Mr. Mikkalson was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion post 400 of Plymouth.
He was married to Harriet Morphew in 1936 at Osage. Surviving are his wife; a son, Robert, LaCrosse, Wisc.; a stepson, Paul Bishop, Rockwell City; and a grandson, Scott Mikkalson, LaCrosse, Wisc. He was precedced in death by his parents and one son.
