OBITUARY - RAYMOND ANDERSON

MOUNT AYR - Raymond ANDERSON, 88, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday [January 24, 2006] at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wilson- Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Mr. ANDERSON lived in Mason City for 36 years, retiring in 1977 as chairman of the math department, overseeing two junior highs and one high school in the Mason City School Systems. He was past president of the North Central District of the Iowa State Education Association.

After retirement, he lived at Sun Valley Lake at Ellston, Iowa, moving into Mount Ayr in December of 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona ANDERSON of Mount Ayr, two children, Suzanne CHRISTENSEN and her husband, John, of Denver, Colo., and Steve ANDERSON and his wife, Nadine, of Aberdeen, S.D.; their grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his step-father, Raymond GREEN, of Mount Ayr.

OBITUARY - RAYMOND P. ANDERSON

Raymond P. ANDERSON, 88, of Mount Ayr died January 24, 2006, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 28, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Edward SHIELDS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. There is open visitation after 2 p.m. Friday with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Mr. ANDERSON, son of Faye (ADAMS) and Andy ANDERSON, was born May 19, 1917, near Ellston. He graduated from Simpson College and did graduate work at University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. On August 26, 1938, he married Mary "Ramona" FOSTER at the Methodist parsonage in Ellston.

He retired in 1977 as chairman of the math departments at two junior high and one high school in Mason City. After retirement, they lived at Sun Valley Lake until moving into Clearview Estates in 2000. He was a member of Ellston United Methodist Church, Mason City Teachers Association and past president of the North Central District for the Iowa State Teachers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona ANDERSON of Mount Ayr; two children, Suzanne (husband John) CHRISTENSEN of Denver, Colo., and Steve (wife Nadine) ANDERSON of Aberdeen, S.D.; three grandchildren, Carsten and Fallon ANDERSON and Tristan (wife Carrie) LABADIE; great-grandchild Lylandra LABADIE; and stepfather Raymond GREEN of Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Hazel (McDOWELL) ANDERSON and half-brother Max Dean ANDERSON.

OBITUARY - RAYMOND PAUL ANDERSON

Raymond Paul ANDERSON, son of Andy and Faye (ADAMS) ANDERSON, was born May 19, 1917 at home near Ellston, Iowa. After graduating from Ellston high school, Raymond graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa and received his Maters in Education in math at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On August 26, 1938, Raymond was united in marrige to Ramona FOSTER at the Methodist parsonage in Ellston.

Raymond's first teaching job was in Patterson, Iowa. The net 36 years were spent in Mason City, Iowa. He retired in 1977 as chair of the math department; overseeing two junior high schools and one high school. The family enjoyed both worlds of living in a larger town but coming home to country living at the farm near Ellston whenever there were three of more days off in a row.

Raymond was a member of Mason City Teachers Association, Iowa State Education Association and was past president of the North Central District of the I.S.E.A. Raymond refereed both football and basketball games. He had also been a scout leader in Mason City. Raymond was a member and an usher at the United Methodist Church in Mason City while living there, transferring his membership to Ellston after they had moved to Sun Valley Lake.

Raymond and Ramona became residents of Clearview Estates on December 1, 2000. Due to heath, Raymond moved over to the Clearview Home and it was there that he passed awayon January 24, 2006.

He was preceded in deathby his father, Andy ANDERSON; mother, Faye ANDERSON GREEN; step-mother, Hazel McDOWELL ANDERSON, and half-brother, Max Dean ANDERSON.

Raymond's survivors include his loving wife, Ramona ANDERSON of Mount Ayr, Iowa; his children, Suzanne CHRISTENSEN and her husband John of Denver, Colorado, and Steve ANDERSON and his wife Nadine of Aberdeen, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Carsten and Fallon ANDERSON and Tristan LABADIE and his wife Carrie; one great-grandchild, Lylandra LABADIE, and his step-father, Raymond GREEN of Mount Ayr.

Services were conducted at the Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Edward SHIELDS officiating. Musicians were Ginny EIGHMY and Kathy SHIELDS.

Casket bearers were Erika WILMES, Emily SHELLEY, ROdney SHIELDS, Pete SHIELDS, Charles WASKE and Leroy WOOD.

Raymond was laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
