Coach Killed When His Car Meets a Truck;
Victim Fell Asleep, Officers Think;

Clinton, IA.---Glen Grace, 23, the athletic coach at the Swaledale, Ia., consolidated school was injured fatally in a highway accident six miles east of DeWitt, Ia, about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Grace had been visiting his parents at Bennett, Ia, during spring vacation and was returning there from Sterling, Ill., where he had been to take a girl friend home.
State highway patrolmen said he probably fell asleep at the wheel. His auto left the road, then swung back, sideswiping a transport truck traveling in the opposite direction.
Lester Luther, 21,of Walkerton, Ind., driver of the truck, was uninjured.
Grace was rushed to Jane Lamb hospital here where he died an hour after the accident of a basal skull fracture.
He was graduated last spring from Upper Iowa university at Fayette, Ia., and was secretary-treasurer of his senior class. He played on the college baseball team as shortstop and was active in dramatics and singing.
He was an honor student in commercial subjects in college and was serving as commercial teacher at Swaledale.
The body was taken to a Davenport, Ia. Mortuary, and funeral services are to be Tuesday at Dixon, Ill.
Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Grace and a sister.
