GERTRUDE G. HART

MASON CITY- Gertrude G. Hart, 79 of 512 S. Carolina Ave., died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl Ries officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a 7 p.m. Scriptural prayer service.

Memorials may be made to the Gertrude G. Hart Memorial Fund.

Gertrude G. Hart was born July 21, 1917 in Floyd County, daughter of James and Susan (Noss) Cunningham.

She married John Hart on Feb. 28, 1938, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty.

Gert grew up in the Dougherty area and graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School.

After her marriage, she and her husband farmed in the Swaledale and Rockwell area. In 1959, they moved into Mason City where she worked for 10 years as a nurses aide at Mercy Hospital until retiring.

Gert was an avid bingo player. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Staudt and her husband Milton, of Marble Rock, three sons, Robert Hart and his wife, Patricia, of Mason City; John Hart of Woodard, and Jim Hart and his wife, Marsha, of Mason City; six grandchildren, Terry Staudt and Gerald Staudt, both of Marble Rock; Amanda, Brandy and Dustin Hart of Mason City; three great-grandchildren, April, Angie and Jacob Staudt, all of Marble Rock; four sisters, Fran Klatt, Gladys Lugar and Rose Gaubatz, all of Mason City; and Sister Mary Paschal of Dubuque; a special little friend, BreAnna; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Chelsea Marie Hart; four brothers, Leo, Nick, Carl and John Cunningham; and three sisters Mayme Backer, Agnes Hinsch and Josephine McLaughlin.
