GLADYS L. MEIER
MASON CITY - Mrs Otto E. (Gladys L.) Meier, 85, of 743 15th Place N. E., died Saturday (Aug.5, 1989) at the Good Shepard Nursing Home of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Charles Q. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
The family requests mrmorials be given to the Gladys L. Meier Memorial Fund or the Newman High School Foundation.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today and until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 209 Second St. N. E., Mason City, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
She was born July 10, 1904, in Cerro Gordo county, a daughter of Henry and Lydia M. (Vietmeier) Kuppinger. She attended Mason City schools.
She married Otto E. Meier Dec. 25, 1934, in Mason City. Mr. Meier died in 1975. She worked at the Soda Grill and enjoyed painting china. She was a lifelong resident of Mason City and did much volunteer work in the community and enjoyed traveling.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hawkeye Movie Makers, United Commercial Travelers, Order of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and Mary-Martha Circle. She also was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the MacNider Museum and a former Rebekah
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs Paul (Shirley) Pirkl, Mason City; one son, Francis E. Meier, Mason City, seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, one brother and one granddaughter.
