DOUGHERTY- Daniel "Danny" John Dougherty died Friday (May 16, 2008) at his home in Dougherty.

A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 410 St. Patrick St. Dougherty, with the Rev. James W. Dubert officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty, with military honors conducted by members of the American Legion Post 354.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be directed in Danny's name to any charity of the donor's choice.

Danny was born Dec. 24, 1939, in Mason City, the son of Robert Joseph Sr. and Helen Mary (Dolan) Dougherty. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in the class of 1958.

Danny served in the Army in Fort Benning, Ga., serving from 1963 to 1965 when he was honorably discharged. Danny worked for Mason City Imports as a mechanic, he also worked at Armour Packing Plant in Mason City. Danny later farmed up until his retirement in 2002.

He loved softball, hunting, riding his motorcycle and was the ultimate Buddy Holly fan.
Danny was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his brother, Barney Dougherty, Dougherty; sisters, Mollie (Jim) Dougherty-Chritton, Madison, Wis., Elizabeth "Liz" Dougherty-Sanders, San Diego, Calif.,; a nephew, Tim Sanders, San Diego, Calif.; along with aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen; sister, Sister Mary Robertelle "Mary Pat", brother, Robert Joseph Jr., sister-in-law,
Eleanor Menold and brother-in-law, Lawrence "Sandy" Sanders.
