CHARLES ‘CHARLIE' BOYD JR.
ROCK FALLS — Charles "Charlie" Boyd Jr., 72, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday (March 31, 2004) at his home in Rock Falls.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, with the Rev. Ruth Hansen officiating. Burial will be at the Rock Falls Cemetery, Rock Falls.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
Charles Irving Boyd Jr., the son of Charles Ira and Sadie J. (Togstead) Boyd, was born May 9, 1931, in Mason City. He attended school in Mason City.
At a young age, he started farming and bought a livestock truck, which he used when he bought and sold cattle.
He was united in marriage to Edna Hoffman on Dec. 28, 1952, in Detroit, Mich.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family as well as attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.
He loved to play cards at the Rock Falls Farm Store with his buddies and enjoyed his daily drives throughout the countryside.
He could often be found driving his skid loader around the neighborhood to help neighbors with snow removal during the winter months, never expecting anything in return.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Edna, of Rock Falls; his children and their spouses, Darlene Boyd-DeZeeuw and her husband, Allen, of Janes-ville, Wis., Charles D. Boyd and his wife, Mindy Marshall, of Mason City, Diane K. Yunek and her husband, Joel, of Mason City, and Carol Behne and her husband, Michael, of Nora Springs; and six grandchildren, Andrew C. Boyd of Phoenix, Ariz., Coty C. Boyd of Crossville, Tenn., Luke DeZeeuw of Janesville, Wis., Sadie Yunek of Mason City, and Tyler and Spencer Behne both of Nora Springs. Also surviving are one brother, Leonard Boyd, of Mason City; sister-in-law, Rose Boyd, of Mason City; mother-in-law, Edna Hoffman of Mason City; two brothers-in-law, George Hoffman and his wife, Janie, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jim Hoffman of Nora Springs, and many nieces and nephews.
