Rufina Vega Sanchez-21 Aug 1915 Salumanca, Gto. Mexico-30 Nov 1988 Mason City, IA. Mason City-Funeral services will be 9 AM Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, for Rufina Camerina Vega Sanchez, 73, of 152 15th St. N.W., who died Wednesday Nov 30, 1988 at home of natural causes, under the care of her family and Hospice of North Iowa. The Rev. Joseph Slepicka will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood/St Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E. where a scripture wake will be held 7 PM tonight, followed by a Spanish rosary at 7:30 PM. Mrs Sanchez was born Aug 21, 1915 in Salumanca, Guanajuato, Mexico to Leon and Maria (Perez) Vega. At an early age she moved with her family to Mason City, where she was employed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and Mode O'Day. She married Dorates Sanchez on Nov 18, 1939 in Des Moines, IA. Mrs Sanchez worked as a seamstress for Mason City Tent and Awning Co. from 1957 to 1964. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth's Circle. Survivors include her husband, Dorates, Mason City; one daughter, Mrs Mike (Delores) Nelson, Fertile, IA; five sons, Gregory, Nevada, IA; Alexander, Joseph and Jesse, all of Mason City, and John, Twentynine Palms, CA, 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Marie Vega, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and Mrs Merno (Mary) Sanchez, Mason City; five brothers, Raymond Vega, Peter Vega, Phillip Vega and Daniel Vega, all of Mason City and Ronald Vega, Whittier, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and three brothers.
