Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaDougherty woman gets AOTA award
CHICAGO -- Miss Beatrice WADE, associate professor and head of the University of Illinois Department of Occupational Therapy in Chicago, has received the "Award of Merit" from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). She is a native of Dougherty [daughter of John F. and Mary (DOUGHERTY) WADE].
The award is the highest honor given by the Association. It is presented to a member or group of members of the AOTA who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of occupational therapy.
Miss WADE'S award was for her "outstanding contribtuion to the continuous growth of occupational therapy education and practice and her special contribution to the field of psychiatry." Miss WADE, who has been head of the University's Department of Occupational Therapy for the past 19 years, is presently vice-president of the AOTA.
