VARIETY of JOBS DONE BY MACKET

Repairing and Refinishing Done
On All Types of Furniture.

The entire gamut of furniture reconstruction work is contained in the operations of the MACKET Furniture shop, 403 First street, southwest. This includes repairing, refinishing, upholstering, re-caning, cabinet making, moth exterminating, and the making of novelty furniture and special pieces.

The shop is equipped with a complete set of power and hand tools for shaping and finishing of wood to fit the needs of most exacting situations.

The finishing room of the establishment is fitted up with a motor driven spray painting and varnishing machine. The MACKET firm makes all its own stains and a number of varnishes to fit the needs of a myraid of requirements that are a part of the furniture repairing business.

Uses Dry Kiln.

The MACKET shop carries a complete line of woods and has a dry kiln in the basement, where these are seasoned to the correct state for furniture use. It ships native walnut, for instance, from a grower in Wisconsin. The boards come in rough unfinished form and are placed in the kiln and finished by the MACKET workmen.

The upholstering department has a large selection of furniture covers and has access to a million different styles thru five jobbers. One of the outstanding jobs of the years by MACKET was the upholstering of 321 booths for the Reich cafe at Iowa City.

The MACKET company manufactures special sets of furniture, such as kitchen sets, juvenile bedroom suites and spacial tables, chairs, chests and other pieces.

Thru its jobbing connections, the shop has access to a large stock of period furniture trim and hardware. In this connection it retails a considerable quantity of colored nails for furniture use.

Exterminates Moths

The shop has a lethyl gas chamber for exterminating moths. The furniture is placed in a chamber which is sealed. Electric heaters keep the temperatures at 80-degrees. . . .rest of article missing. . . .
