Will Scherfs to Observe
Golden Wedding March 12

VENTURA -- Mrs. and Mrs. William SCHERF, South Second street, will celebrate their golden wedding on Tuesday, March 12, at their home. They plan to have open house for their friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on that date.

Mr. SCHERF was born at Charles City on Oct. 26, 1870 and Mrs. SCHERF, nee Minnie THOMAS, was born at Merrimac, Wis., Dec. 29, 1871, and she has lived in the Clear Lake vicinity for 67 years. Mr. SCHERF was married to Minnie THOMAS on March 12, 1891, at the Pioneer church southewest (sic) of Ventura in Clear Lake township, by the Rev. R. R. WOOD. This was the first of any wedding which ever took place in this church according to the records. It was later moved to another location and is not now used as a church.

Mr. and Mrs. SCHERF have three children, Harry SCHERF of Waverly, Ray SCHERF of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Hazel UNDERKOFLER, Bloomfield; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Living with Mr. and Mrs. SCHERF is Mr. SCHERF's mother [Mary (HAYES) SCHERF] who is past 90-years-old. She is the oldest link in the five generations of the SCHERF family.

On March 12, a family dinner will be served at noon to which all of their children are expected to attend as well as some of their grandchildren.
