Clarissa Adeline Redington was born July 1825 at Onondaga, New York to Herman Murray Redington (born November 25, 1796 Cato, Cayuga, New York, d December 31, 1866 Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa) and Christiana Auringer (b 1799 Halfmoon, Saratoga, New York, d November 12, 1886 Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo, Iowa).

Clarissa had two brothers: Martin Redington (born 1820 New York) and William (born April 13, 1832, d September 13, 1912 Rock Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa) and possibly other siblings.

Found in the 1840 census living with her parents at Ira, Cayuga, New York: 6 people counted: 2 adults and 4 children. 1 age 5-9; 1 age 15-19; 2 - 10-14.

Sometime before 1850, the family moved west to Boone County, Illinois. Clarissa married James Wright (born 1810 New York, d March 18, 1859 Kansas) on October 8, 1843 at Boone, Boone, Illinois.

Found in the 1850 census living at Manchester, Boone, Illinois: James Wright 40, Clarissa Wright 25.

The couple had 1 son George F Wright (b 1854 Illinois). They all moved west as did her parents to settle at Rock Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa.

Found in the 1860 census living at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa: Adeline Wright age 35, born 1825; son George, age 7, living at a hotel. Says she has $600 in real estate and $250 in personal. (her husband had died the year before in Kansas)

On March 7, 1863, Clarissa married John B Massey (born July 1827 Virginia) at probably Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. The couple had no children.

Found in the 1870 & 1880 censuses living at Union, Worth, Iowa:
1870: John D Massey, Clarissa and her son, George. John was farming, George was a farm laborer.

1880: John Massey 53, Clarace A. Massey 54; Geo. F. Wright 27, Christina Redington 81.

Found in the 1885 census at Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo, Iowa: John Massey 56, Adaline Massey 57, Christiana (Auringer) Redington 86, George S Wright 30.

Found in the 1900 census at Rock Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa: Clarissa A Massey Age 74, Birth: Jul 1825, New York, Relationship to head-of-house: Wife, Father's Birthplace: New York, Mother's Birthplace: New York, number of living children: 1, # of children born: 6. Spouse: John B Massey, Marriage year: 1861, Years married: 39, Household Members: John B Massey 72, Clarissa A Massey 74.

Clarissa A Massey died on an unknown date at probably Rock Falls, Cerro Gordo, Iowa. Could not find her burial site.
